Dr. Patel is a quadruple board-certified cardiologist who embodies selflessness as she has spent her entire career in service to mankind and the Houston community. She interacts and treats patients daily in her role at Memorial Hermann Hospital– Texas Medical Center.

In June of 2012, she joined the Weatherhead PET Imaging Center as a co-investigator to the CENTURY Health Study, which is aimed at the prevention or reversal of coronary heart disease by intense, combined pharmacologic and lifestyle treatment. She serves as the co-program director of the cardiovascular disease fellowship and is actively involved in the training of future cardiologists. Dr. Patel has been the recipient of the yearly Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award five times in the last 7 years.
As a first-generation American raised in Houston, Dr. Patel comes from a very tight-knit and traditional Indian family. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the John P. and Kathrine G. McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, she is board-certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography, and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.
