Dr. Farr is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship-trained in spine surgery. He has been performing general orthopedic and complex spine surgery in San Jose and Manteca, California since 2001.

While working full-time, Dr. Farr received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Cal State San Jose. He then went on to graduate with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, currently known as AT Still University of Health Sciences.
Subsequently, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery through the Michigan State University program. He received additional orthopedic surgery training through the William Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, Shrine’s Children Hospital in Pennsylvania, and the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.
Furthering his training, Dr. Farr completed a fellowship in spine surgery through a Tulane University Affiliated Program. He completed most of his training at Jewish Hospital, Norton Hospital, and Kosair Children Hospital.
With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
Throughout his career, Dr. Farr has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, and was a clinical faculty member at the University of Kentucky. He also completed 8 years of military reserve duty with the US Navy Reserve, and served a one year tour of duty at the US military hospital in Kuwait, where he provided orthopedic surgery services for injured soldiers.
Remaining up to date in his field, he is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the California Orthopedic Association, the Santa Cruz Medical Association, the California College of Spine Surgery, and the American College of Spine Surgery.
An avid researcher, Dr. Farr is involved in the development of new technology for minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS). He holds several patents including new technology for MIS placement of interbody cages for lumbar fusion, MIS technique for rod introduction for lumbar fusion, a new interspinous spacer that allows a more stable construct.
