Morton M. Teich, MD, an Allergist and Immunologist in Private Practice

Get to know Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Morton M. Teich, who serves patients in New York, New York.

Dr. Teich is a well-versed allergist and immunologist has been serving patients at his private practice – Morton M. Teich, MD, PC – in New York, New York since 1974. He identifies himself as an integrative physician, meaning that he may use both conventional and alternative treatment methods for his patients.

As proclaimed by the media, he has a “cause-oriented” approach to medicine. “Illness resembles a glass of water filled with a myriad of physical and emotional stressors that has overflowed its threshold” expressed the doctor.

Recurrent ear, sinus, and urinary tract infections, ADHD, asthma, autism, headaches, hormonal imbalances, eczema, Crohn’s disease, and colitis are just a few of the diseases that are usually treated symptomatically with medications. However, recurrent use of antibiotics, steroids, bronchodilators and antidepressants can cause problems of their own. Dr. Teich frames his treatment based on his evaluation of the causes and subsequent imbalances with which the patient presents. These combinations do not always fall within the narrow parameters of specific disease definitions. Thus, he treats individuals and their unique puzzle.

Rather than using one discipline such as conventional, alternative, integrative or functional medicine, Dr. Teich allows himself the freedom to utilize whatever approach fits the individual. Starting with a comprehensive medical history and physical exam allows him to predict the direction of his treatment plan. Epigenetic considerations are a vital part of this initial evaluation.

True to this approach, he uses a variety of treatments for his patients, including, but not limited to the following: acne treatment, ADD, ADHD, arthritis, Asperger’s Syndrome, autism, autogenous antigen immunotherapy, candida treatment, chemical sensitivity, diet evaluation and modification, fatigue, lyme disease & coinfections, mast cell activation syndrome, microbiome balancing, migraines, mold allergy, mycotoxin treatment, pharmaceutical medications (if necessary), provocative antigen neutralization, subcutaneous immunotherapy, sublingual immunotherapy, thyroid imbalance, as well as vitamin & nutritional support.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Teich is affiliated with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and holds the title of Clinical Instructor on the teaching staff.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is a member of the Medical Society of the State of New York, the American Academy of Pediatrics (Fellow), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (Fellow), the American College of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology (Fellow), the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (Fellow, past President), and the New York State Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Back in 1965, Dr. Teich graduated with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Canada. He then went on to perform his residency in pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in 1967, followed by his fellowship in pediatric allergy at the Kaiser Permanente San Francisco Medical Center in 1971.

Demonstrating expertise in all areas of immunology and allergy treatment, Dr. Teich earned board certification in allergy and immunology through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.

Furthermore, he attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
