Dr. Komanduri is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery, and cartilage transplantation. He has been serving Will County and the Joliet area since 1994 as the Founder of MK Orthopaedics Surgery & Rehabilitation.

He is the current team physician for Providence Catholic High School since 1995 and Plainfield Central High School since 2013. With the help of athletic trainers and directors at Providence Catholic High School, he implemented the first standardized concussion identification and treatment program in Will County.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the doctor is a member of the Will-Grundy County Medical Society and the American Medical Association.

He is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons. 

Regarding his academic history, Dr. Komandi earned his Bachelor of Science degree with a Double Major in Biology and English from the University of Miami, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1985. Four years later, in 1989, he obtained his medical degree from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. This was followed by an internship in general surgery and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Chicago Medical Center in 1990 and 1994, respectively. 

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.

Recognized for his contributions to the field of orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Komanduri has been the recipient of several awards and honors, including the Howard Hatcher Research Award in Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Association of Trauma Research Award, the Smith and Nephew Richards Resident Research Award, and the Pandola-Lewis Award, to name a few.
