Fluent in both English and French, Dr. Rebner is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist who serves as the Fellowship Director of the Division of Breast Imaging at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is committed to bringing the best cutting-edge technology to Beaumont patients to help reduce the mortality from breast cancer. Under his leadership, the Division of Breast Imaging has introduced digital mammography and MR-guided breast biopsy to the women in Michigan.
Professionally, the doctor is also affiliated with several hospitals that are a part of the Beaumont Health network, including Beaumont Hospital – Grosse Pointe, Beaumont Hospital – Royal Oak, and Beaumont Hospital – Troy.
With academic interests in digital breast tomosynthesis and imaging of women who are at high risk for breast cancer, Dr. Rebner serves as a Professor of Radiology and Molecular Imaging at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Born in Montreal, Canada, he earned his medical degree from McGill University Faculty of Medicine in 1980. He then went on to complete his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1984, followed by his fellowship in diagnostic radiology at the same educational venue in 1985.
A Fellow of the American College of Radiology and a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, he is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties. What’s more, he has served as treasurer, vice president, president, and immediate past president of the SBI.
Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. The tests and equipment used sometimes involves low doses of radiation to create highly detailed images of an area. A diagnostic radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury, using medical imaging techniques such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), fusion imaging, and ultrasound.
The author or coauthor of more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Rebner has presented multiple papers and posters at scientific meetings. He has also served as a moderator for numerous scientific sessions at the Radiological Society of North America, as well as has lectured and taught throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Furthermore, the doctor has received numerous awards throughout his career, including Distinguished Reviewer awards from the journal Radiology, a Best Doctors in America award for the past 12 years, and a Distinguished Service Award from General Electric for his dedication to the detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.
