Dr. Kuppuswami, “Narma”, is an obstetrician-gynecologist with over four decades of experience delivering care in the United States and India. Her passion is to make a difference in the lives of women before, during, and beyond childbirth.
Since retirement she has been focusing on how to make pregnancy safe for all women around the globe by reducing preventable maternal and neonatal deaths, and empowering women to take control of their health.
Leveraging her extensive experience Dr. Kuppuswami created a mobile application called WONDER which stands for Women’s Obstetrical, Neonatal, Death Evaluation & Reduction. This mobile application helps mothers to monitor themselves using simple biometric devices like BP apparatus, thermometer and weighing scale and keying in important symptoms they might experience. If anything is abnormal, the system will alert the user to seek medical advice and has it also has the ability to alert the physicians.
“Our mission is to help patients recognize the early warning signs of pregnancy through an alert system and to facilitate immediate communication with their doctors without delay. Avoiding delays at all levels and providing appropriate treatment on time are essential to prevent serious complications and death. About 60% of maternal deaths are avoidable. The Wonder Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), the Wonder Moms & Wonder Newborn mobile applications provide a novel way of following the mothers and their newborns safely at the comfort of their homes, and still staying connected with their physicians” expressed Dr. Kuppuswami.

1973-Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, University of Madras, India
1976-1980 – Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology – Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois
- Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
1984-1987 – Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Chicago Medical School.
1987 until 1988 – Associate Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Chicago Medical School.

Community service:
Founder member of H.E.L.P. Charitable organization, U.S.A. – started in the year 2000. It is a community outreach organization focusing on health education and disease prevention. The organization is involved in patient and provider education in low resources countries.

She has won numerous awards like top doctors by Castle Connolly in 2003 and by Chicago magazine 2001, 2011 and 2014, Patient choice awards in 2008, 2010 , 2011 and 2013. Exemplary Performance award and multiple awards for community service to name a few.
On a more personal note, she enjoys reading biographies and her favorite places to vacation are historical places and natural sceneries. She is fluent in English and Tamil.
