In 1987, Dr. Fine earned his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed residencies in general surgery and plastic surgery at the combined Brigham & Women’s Hospital & Children’s Hospital with Harvard Medical School program in Boston, Massachusetts. He also pursued additional training in cosmetic surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in New York City, New York.

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the face and body. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reconstructive techniques to get the desired outcome. As an expert in his field, Dr. Fine has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Department of Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
