Neville B. Flowers, MD, an Orthopaedic Surgeon with Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Neville B. Flowers, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Flowers is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint preservation surgery, joint replacement surgery, complex reconstruction, and deformity correction. He became involved in this specialty because of his belief in approaching orthopaedic surgery from a different angle.

Instead of treating a joint after it is damaged, this doctor’s approach corrects the malalignment that would lead to debilitating arthritis in the future whether it be in the hip, knee or ankle. He has the skill set to perform joint replacement procedures for those who already have advanced arthritis, as well as in-depth knowledge and skills for correcting bowlegs, knock knees, and multiple post-traumatic deformities.

In his current capacity, Dr. Flowers serves patients at Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in The Woodlands and Spring, Texas. “At Sterling Ridge Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, our team of board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic physicians and experienced therapists take the time to truly understand each patient’s needs before considering the best options available for the prevention or treatment of orthopaedic injury or condition. Our goal is to keep our patients moving and returning to their regular activity level as quickly as possible – whether that’s a walk around the block or running a marathon” as stated on their website.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

As a first generation American, Dr. Flowers was born in Queens, New York and raised on Long Island. He received his Bachelor of Health Science degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He also holds a Master of Physical Therapy degree and medical degree from Howard University. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the New York Medical College located in Manhattan, followed by his fellowship in limb lengthening and complex reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. They work in clinical and hospital settings.

On a more personal note, Dr. Flowers’ family is from Jamaica, West Indies. He currently resides in The Woodlands with his three children. His hobbies include mountain biking, running triathlons (he is an Ironman Finisher), and auto racing.
