A highly skilled Laparoscopic Surgeon, with over two decades of experience, Dr. Gabriel serves patients in Northern California. Currently, he performs minimally invasive procedures and is trained in robotic surgery for weight loss procedures, gallbladder disease, hernia, appendix, gastroesophageal reflux disease, disorders of the stomach small bowel and colon disorders, disease of the spleen, pancreas, adrenal glands and kidneys. He is noted for and is one of the most elite in the country doing multiple organ procedures for chronic abdominal pain usually through just three laparoscopic incisions.
As a general surgeon, he also performs other procedures including but not limited to biopsies, excisions or resections for tumors of the skin, body and breasts.
When he is not performing major surgical procedures, he is trained and certified to perform injectable cosmetic procedures, and other aesthetic procedures including facial dermal abrasions, and laser liposuction.
Formerly from the greater New York area, he was one of the first surgeons in the country to perform Lap Band surgery. He performs all weight loss procedures including gastric plication, lap band with plication, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and revisions.
Dr. Gabriel graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training in general surgery at the Weill College Cornell University in Brooklyn, and afterwards a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery at Yale University School of Medicine.
An authority in his field, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, which he served as a Board member and Chair of the General Surgery discipline for many years. He has had past appointments as director of General Surgery residency programs. With his love for education and teaching, he has taught surgeons nationally and internationally. Some of his international work was medical mission based.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS), and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). He served as Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at various hospitals in New York and has appeared on the Discovery Health Channel, CNN “Anderson Cooper 360”, and ABC Eyewitness News. He has also been featured in Newsweek, as well as other newspapers and magazines for “first of its kind” laparoscopic procedures in various institutions. With all his academic, professional and humanitarian achievements, he was one of the first Osteopathic Surgeons to be awarded the status as Distinguished Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (DFACOS).

In his limited time when he is not performing procedures or teaching, Dr. Gabriel enjoys all types of motor sports, particularly motorcycles. Other hobbies include, billiards, darts, axe and knife throwing. He remains physically fit by training at a local gym, cycling and dancing.
