Dr. Belkin is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist in nonoperative and operative treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, and hip. She is affiliated with Columbia Orthopedic Surgery, providing individualized and state-of-the-art care to athletes and pursuing orthopedic research that focuses on injury recovery and preventing premature osteoarthritis.

An expert in minimally invasive and arthroscopic techniques, the doctor’s clinical focus is in the treatment of ligament, articular cartilage, meniscus and patellofemoral injuries of the knee; rotator cuff and labrum injuries of the shoulder; labrum injuries and impingement of the hip and other ligament and tendon injuries. 

Alongside her clinical role, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, which is a clinical, research, and educational enterprise located on a campus in northern Manhattan. She is also affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Belkin earned her medical degree from the University of Florida School of Medicine and completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She conducted laboratory research for an additional year at the university and won the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation’s Resident Clinician Scientist Award. Her research received both national and international recognition.

Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Through this advanced training, she gained experience treating complex articular cartilage injuries, meniscal injury and deficiency, failed ligamentous reconstruction, patellofemoral malalignment, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, and femoroacetabular impingement. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

In her professional experience, Dr. Belkin has served as an assistant team physician for the New York Giants, an associate team physician for Iona College Athletics, and as an orthopedic consultant to the New York Public School Athletic League.
