Dr. Belkin is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist in nonoperative and operative treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the knee, shoulder, and hip. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Belkin earned her medical degree from the University of Florida School of Medicine and completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She conducted laboratory research for an additional year at the university and won the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation’s Resident Clinician Scientist Award. Her research received both national and international recognition.
Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Through this advanced training, she gained experience treating complex articular cartilage injuries, meniscal injury and deficiency, failed ligamentous reconstruction, patellofemoral malalignment, shoulder instability, rotator cuff tears, and femoroacetabular impingement.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, which is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
In her professional experience, Dr. Belkin has served as an assistant team physician for the New York Giants, an associate team physician for Iona College Athletics, and as an orthopedic consultant to the New York Public School Athletic League.
