Nicole is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who is affiliated with Providence Heart and Vascular Institute in Portland, Oregon. In addition to being a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Nicole holds certification as a progressive care certified nurse (PCCN). PCCN creditiation is a credential granted by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Certification Corporation that validates one’s knowledge of nursing care of acutely ill adult patients to hospital administrators, peers, patients and, most importantly, to oneself. It promotes continuing excellence in progressive care nursing.

Gerontology is the study of the social, cultural, psychological, cognitive, and biological aspects of aging. A board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner manages patients based on their acuity and needs, not the setting. Throughout her career, Nicole has gone on medical missions, including various trips to Kenya, as  well as has been nominated for the Humanitarian Award at her hospital.
