Nicole is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner who is affiliated with Providence Heart and Vascular Institute in Portland, Oregon. Providence Heart and Vascular Institute comprises more than 80 highly-skilled physicians and surgeons along with specialized nurses, technologists, scientists, and administrative and support staff. Back in 2008, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from George Fox University in Portland. She then went on to obtain her Master of Science degree from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri in 2019. 

In addition to being a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, the American Nurses Association, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Nicole holds certification as a progressive care certified nurse (PCCN). PCCN creditiation is a credential granted by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses Certification Corporation that validates one’s knowledge of nursing care of acutely ill adult patients to hospital administrators, peers, patients and, most importantly, to oneself. It promotes continuing excellence in progressive care nursing.

Gerontology is the study of the social, cultural, psychological, cognitive, and biological aspects of aging. A board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner manages patients based on their acuity and needs, not the setting. They care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

Throughout her career, Nicole has gone on medical missions, including various trips to Kenya, as  well as has been nominated for the Humanitarian Award at her hospital.
