In 1982, Nicolette earned her practical nursing certificate from Oakton Community College in Des Plaines, Illinois. Wanting to further her education, she went on to obtain her Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree from the same educational venue in 1990, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from West Suburban College of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois in 1994. 

In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the Case Management Society of America. Established in 1990, the Case Management Society of America is an international non-profit 501 multi-disciplinary professional association dedicated to the support and advancement of the case management profession through educational forums, networking opportunities, legislative advocacy, and establishing standards.

A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. Pediatric nursing is the medical care of neonates and children up to and including adolescence, usually in an in-patient hospital or day-clinic. A certified pediatric nurse (CPN) devotes their knowledge and skills to caring for children from infancy through the late teen years and their families.
