He then completed a rigorous fellowship in spine surgery at the University of South Florida, Tampa General Hospital with Dr. David Cahill, a leading spine surgeon. He gained experience in treating patients with complex spinal conditions, including those who had failed previous spine surgeries (Failed Back Syndrome). He also pursued a second fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at Desert Institute for Spine Care with Dr. Anthony Yeung, a pioneer in endoscopic spine surgery.

With three decades of spine excellence, Dr. Kotecha is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Actively involved in professional associations, Dr. Kotecha is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Congress of Neurosurgery, the International Intradiscal and Transforaminal Therapy Society, and the Texas Medical Association. 

In addition, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS).
