Featuring over two decades of experience in his field, he is noted for his special expertise in adrenal tumors, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, and retroperitoneal masses. Dr. Underwood also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Urology with Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and as an Assistant Professor of Health Behavior at the University of Buffalo, School of Public Health.

 

Dr. Underwood’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1994, when he graduated with his Medical Degree from the SUNY at Syracuse, Upstate Medical University. After medical school, he completed his General Surgery and Urology residency training with the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. Driven to further his knowledge and expertise, Dr. Underwood undertook his fellowship with the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Moreover, he earned his Master of Public Health Degree in Health Management and Policy in 2004 from the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Underwood is certified by the American Board of Urology, and has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

To stay current with the new developments, guidelines, and technology in his field, Dr. Underwood remains a distinguished member of the American Medical Association, the American Urology Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, and the National Medical Association. He has dedicated his life to delivering the highest standard of quality and compassionate care, and strives to provide the best outcomes possible for his patients. For his wealth of experience and knowledge, he has been published extensively on the topics of kidney, bladder, and prostate cancer care and outcomes. Dr. Underwood attributes his success to his opportunities, mentorship, and his strong personal drive. When he is not assisting patients, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, fly fishing, and healthcare policy legislation.
