Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Assistant Professor Kathleen A. LuPone, EdD, RNP-BC, CNE who Provides Care for the Arizona Area

Get to know Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Assistant Professor Kathleen A. LuPone, who serves patients within ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

Dr. LuPone graduated with her Nursing Degree with the Buffalo General Hospital School of Nursing in 1974, giving her over four decades of experience in her field. She received a Bachelors in Nursing from Arizona State University in 2001. She then became certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Arizona State University where she also graduated with her Masters in Science in 2004. Wanting to further her education she graduated from Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College as a Certified Nurse educator in 2010 and with a Doctor of Education Degree from the same Institute in 2016. She holds certification in the Nurse Educator Program and Neuroscience Nursing.

To stay up to date in her field Dr. LuPone remains a professional member of the American Nurses Association, Arizona Nurses Association, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She has also been inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society. Dr. LuPone currently practices as a Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Assistant Professor with the ASU College of Nursing and Health Innovation where she holds an expertise in Adult and Family Medicine, Neuroscience, Palliative Care, Gerontology, Chronic Illnesses, Leadership, and Research.

Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses with specialized educational and clinical training in family practice. Nurse practitioners have a higher degree of training, in both the classroom and clinical setting, than Registered Nurses do, although becoming an RN is a prerequisite.

Dr. LuPone attributes her professional success to her supportive husband and her drive to make nursing a better profession, her desire to take care of people, critical thinking and ability to stay clinically focused. When not working, she enjoys reading.
