Dena Lewis earned her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Biology in 2000 at Concord University, and then went on to complete her Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nursing at Shepherd University in 2005. Dena continued her studies by graduating with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with Acute Care Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner certification in 2015 at Brandman University, part of the Chapman University System.
Dena is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. She additionally works as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and teaches nursing, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, and medical students to be the future generation providers. Due to her outstanding achievements, she has earned several awards for her dedication to excellence in her field, including being selected to be trained as the Chief of Hospital in the Emerging Leader Program. Additionally she has led and participated in multiple projects within her company writing guidelines as well as being the head of a large region of advanced practice providers to develop the role of the advanced practice provider within the company.
In order to stay up to date on all medical advancements in her field, she maintains a professional membership with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. During her academic career, Dena became an inductee of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Furthermore, she engages in local public speaking, teaching, leadership, hospital training, and other similar activities.
Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses with specialized educational and clinical training in advanced practice. They have a higher degree of training in both the classroom and clinical setting than Registered Nurses (RN) do, although becoming an RN is a prerequisite.
When Dena is not assisting patients, she enjoys camping, spending time outdoors and spending time with her daughter, husband, and family. She attributes her success to her extensive experience with patients, who she is dedicated to and truly cares about.Throughout her day her church and religion take a high priority within her life.
