Dr. Eng earned her medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1994. She continued her education by undertaking a residency in radiology at the St Barnabas Medical Center. Additionally, she completed a residency in internal medicine at the Rush University Medical Center. Later, she completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Chicago Medical Center. She has been board certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Eng, is a Chairman of the Scientific Review, Clinical Research Committee, she is the contact PI for the multidisciplinary NCI National Clinical Trials Network Lead Academic Participating Sites U10 and more recently the UG1 Grant (NCTN LAPS U10 Grant), an umbrella grant to conduct cancer research within all 4 clinical Network groups (The Alliance, ECOG-Acrin, NRG, and SWOG). She serves on SWOG’s and ECOG’s Gastrointestinal Committee and Colorectal Steering Committee and is a co-chair of the SWOG Rectal/Anal Cancer Subcommittee Dr. Eng has contributed to furthering the field of medical oncology through her research efforts, which include studies on Noninvasive Mutation Analysis in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Patients and Mechanisms of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.
Dr. Eng stays up-to-date on developments in the field by maintaining professional memberships in prestigious medical organizations, including the Southwest Oncology Group Gastrointestinal Committee and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Additionally, she serves as a Professor, Sophie Caroline Steves Professorship in Cancer Research, within the Department of Gastrointestinal (GI) Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, training the next generation of medical professionals.
