Dr. Hooman M. Melamed is a highly experienced and respected surgeon who has been in practice for more than 12 years. His acclaimed career in orthopedics began in 1999 when he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. After completing his residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, Dr. Melamed undertook his fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Outpatient and Complex Spine Surgery at the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Melamed is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and he has become known as one of California’s leading experts in orthopedic spine surgery for adults, children and adolescents, and as an expert in the latest minimally invasive techniques including posterior cervical microsurgery and adult scoliosis surgery using just a single incision. Other expert and cutting edge procedures that Dr. Melamed is noted for include the use of artificial disc replacements, microsurgery avoiding the risk of fusion, and the use of patient’s own stem cells that can negate the need for surgery. Conditions treated by him include scoliosis, stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, disc herniations, spondylolisthesis and kyphosis.
