Patrick S. McNulty, M.D. has been doing spine surgery since 1987. His practice includes the comprehensive spectrum of spinal disorders with special interest in complex spinal reconstruction and deformity.

Dr. McNulty prides himself on keeping current with new and innovative techniques while maintaining the perspective of traditional time-tested methods.

Dr. McNulty is well versed on minimally invasive techniques including new and innovative robotic techniques and is knowledgeable in the appropriate use of laser spine surgery.

He is also committed to maximizing reasonable conservative therapies before implementing surgical options. He has been double board certified for 20 years and maintains double board certification. He is also board certified with the American Board of Spine Surgery because this particular board recognizes both neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons.

Growing up in a military family, Dr. McNulty has lived in many states and countries. Dr. McNulty was born in Chateauroux, France. His mother was a flight nurse and his father was jet fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. 

He attended the University of Miami, FL, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1984 with 3 Majors in computer engineering, electrical engineering, and chemistry. 

He graduated first of his class from the university of Miami medical school in 1988. In 1993, he completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, affiliated with Texas Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Dallas, TX.

He then completed his spinal surgery fellowship at the Scoliosis and Spine Center, affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Towson, MD in 1994.

Following his fellowship, Dr. McNulty proudly served active duty in the U. S. Navy from 1994 to 1997 with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA.  He was the Head of the Division of Spine Surgery and involved full-time with orthopedic residency training. He also deployed during the Bosnian War.

Dr. McNulty has achieved top-tier board certification and in-training exams throughout his entire career. His most recent is top 1% on his American Board of Orthopedic Surgery recertification exam. He is currently board certified through 2026. He actively participates in maintenance of board certification.
