Dr. Nie is a board certified geriatric psychiatrist with diverse experience in clinical, academic, administrative, and business development settings.

Now a lead clinical physician for one of the country’s largest telemedicine companies, she is focused on expanding access to mental health service and treatments. She is also a faculty attending physician within the residency training program at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

Dr. Nie has practiced in most, if not all, possible settings, including: inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, nursing homes, forensics, home visits, and telemedicine. Her experience and passion for mental health advances her interest in developing mental health programs, cultivating quality control structures, and progressing behavioral health education.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Nie obtained her Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine and contributed to research work related to psychosomatic medicine. She then completed her internship and residency in general psychiatry at the said establishment, where she was Chief Resident at Emory University Hospital. Her fellowship in geriatric psychiatry was completed at the University of California San Francisco, UCSF.

Board certified in geriatric psychiatry, Dr. Nie is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the public interest and the professions of psychiatry and neurology by promoting excellence in practice through certification and maintenance of certification processes.

Among her professional affiliations, Dr. Nie is an active member of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry and on the Standards Review Committee of the Clear Health Quality Institute for the American Telemedicine Association. She holds active medical licenses in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Oregon, Montana, Texas, and others in progress.

Geriatric psychiatry, also known as geropsychiatry, psychogeriatrics or psychiatry of old age, is a subspecialty of psychiatry dealing with the study, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders in humans with old age. Geriatric psychiatrists focus on prevention, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders in the elderly and improvement of psychiatric care for healthy and ill elderly patients.

On the subjects of neurocognitive disorders and women in healthcare, Dr. Nie has published in two academic textbooks, is a public speaker for educational events in the community, and has lectured at CME-accredited conferences.
