Dr Seymour has been elected by his peers to serve on the Board of the Massachusetts Society of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, where he helps shape policy for all ENT doctors in the state of Massachusetts. He also serves as an Assistant Surgeon in Otolaryngology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, Massachusetts. Furthermore, he serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at New England Medical Center (Tufts).

Dr. Seymour was one of 11 students throughout the country to be accepted into Albany Medical School as a senior in high school. He graduated through the combined Siena College-Albany Medical College program with honors. Following this 8 year education, he chose to pursue training in otolaryngology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This institution has one of the busiest training programs in the country with special emphasis on sinus and nasal disorders, thyroid surgery/head and neck surgery, and pediatric care. During this 5 year period, Dr. Seymour spent considerable time at DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, caring for children with various ENT related conditions. This institution was a pioneer in several forms of tonsillectomy aimed at reducing recovery time and post-operative pain.

After completing his chief resident year at Thomas Jefferson, Dr. Seymour was accepted in the Christiana Care Otologic Medicine and Surgery Fellowship in Wilmington under the tutelage of Dr. Micheal Teixido – a well known ear surgeon and physician who lectures throughout the world on various conditions involving dizziness, headaches, hearing loss, and chronic ear infections, as well as on advanced anatomy courses. Under his guidance, Dr. Seymour performed several hundred additional ear surgeries beyond his training at Thomas Jefferson, including cochlear implantation, bone anchored hearing aides, chronic ear infection surgery, repair of eardrum perforations, and surgery to restore hearing (i.e. stapedectomy, ossiculoplasty, etc.).

In addition to advanced surgical therapy for ear disorders, Dr. Seymour also served an active role in the Christiana Care Balance and Mobility Center. He was responsible for patient evaluations and management protocols, as well as several speaking engagements. He gained valuable experience with relatively newly recognized conditions such as superior canal dehiscence and migraine-associated vertigo. This experience has served him well as he helped to create the balance center within the current practice, which provides comprehensive testing with state-of-the-art equipment. Dr. Seymour is the first surgeon in the Merrimack Valley to complete this advanced otologic training and he remains very active in otology with several recent publications and numerous speaking engagements on hearing and balance disorders.

Dr. Seymour is board-certified in otolaryngology by the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, which is a non-profit corporation that has set the mission of ensuring professional standards with certificates and memberships, and has offered training in the fields of head neck surgery to professionals since 1924.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists, also known as ear, nose & throat doctors, specialize in disorders of the head and neck ranging from hearing loss to cancer. They also consult with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Dr. Seymour originates from Upstate New York and moved to the Merrimack Valley with his wife and two young children in 2009. Their family has grown to four children since their arrival. His wife, Bridget Seymour, MD, is a local gastroenterologist who also started her practice in the Merrimack Valley in 2009. Dr. Seymour and his wife have completed several volunteer medical missions throughout the world, including several months in both Grenada and Western Samoa, teaching children and assisting in underserved medical communities.

In his spare time, Dr. Seymour enjoys traveling, playing ice hockey and golf, and skiing. As a father of four young children, he enjoys the opportunity to work with children of all ages and strives to make their time in the office and hospital as comfortable as possible.
