Philip A. Minotti, MD, an Orthopaedic Surgeon with Connecticut Orthopaedics
Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Philip A. Minotti, who serves patients throughout the State of Connecticut.
A reputable orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Minotti joined Connecticut Orthopaedics in 2005, operating out of the offices in Hamden, Orange, and Branford. His professional interests include minimally invasive surgery and alternative bearing surfaces such as ceramics and metals.
Resorting to surgery as the last option, he believes that keeping patients out of the operating room is as important as doing quality work in the operating room. He specializes in minimally-invasive procedures, particularly hip replacements, which allow some patients to go home the same day and reduces recovery time for most.
Educated in the United States, Dr. Minotti graduated Cum Laude from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and completed his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He received the Everett J. Gordon Award as the outstanding chief resident of his class and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, a national medical honor society. In 2005, he completed a fellowship in hip and knee replacement at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in orthopaedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
Licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut, Dr. Minotti is affiliated with Veterans Affairs Connecticut Healthcare System-West Haven, Griffin Hospital, and Yale New Haven Hospital.
Affiliations include membership in the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.
Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Minotti has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2010) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2010).
Happily married, he currently resides in Orange, Connecticut with his wife and two children.
