A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Gupta is Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago. He provides advanced care for children with pediatric congenital scoliosis, idiopathic scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, and more. After graduating with his medical degree from Northwestern University School of Medicine in 1990, Dr. Gupta completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital) of Chicago (1990-1995). He then performed a fellowship in orthopedic surgery of the spine at Washington University, Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children-St. Louis (1995-1996). For his undergraduate education, Dr. Gupta attended Northwestern University as a member of the Honors Program for Medical Education, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Medicine in 1988.
Dr. Gupta is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS), a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties. He is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society, Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, North American Spine Society, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He actively participates in research with the Pediatric Spine Study Group to advance the treatment and care of pediatric spinal deformities. Dr. Gupta has provided numerous presentations, peer reviewed publications and received many research grants in pediatric spine.
