Among her varied professional roles, she serves as an attending physician and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. The Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California teaches and trains physicians, biomedical scientists, and other healthcare professionals, as well as conducts medical research and treats patients. Founded in 1885, it is the second oldest medical school in California. 

Prior to her current endeavors, Dr. Berkovich served as Assistant Professor at St. Petersburg Pavlov Medical University in Russia. Her knowledge and experience involve an exceptional educational background, which began in her home in Russia. She graduated high school in 1985 and continued her education by studying medicine at Kazan State Medical University. She interned at the same educational venue, focusing on psychiatry and neurology. She then went on to complete her residency in neurology at the First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg, where she was also awarded her Doctorate degree in Neuropharmacology in 2001. 

Following her experience in Russia, she transitioned to the University of Southern California in 2003 for a clinical fellowship in neurology with a focus on multiple sclerosis. Before long, she became board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

Well known for her work as a published author, Dr. Berkovich is actively involved in several clinical research projects and lectures on the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of multiple sclerosis. She remains at the forefront of her challenging specialty via memberships and affiliations with prestigious professional societies and associations, such as the American Academy of Neurology and the Los Angeles Neurological Society. Among her many achievements, she was awarded the Gold Medal by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of all categories of conditions and disease involving the central and peripheral nervous systems, including their coverings, blood vessels, and all effector tissue, such as muscle. Neurologists are medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient. 

Attributing her success to hard work, persistence, and continued education, Dr. Berkovich dedicates her spare time to playing the piano.
