Amy is a full-time staff nurse on the orthopedic unit/medical-surgical unit, previous to that she worked for 5 years within the Emergency Department. She was very active in SuperUser role to educate all staff (physicians, PCTS’s and nursing staff while changing from bedside charting to electronic documentation, electronic order entry, and is highly involved in the implementation of EHR, teaching classes. on-floor support for physicians and staff and providing same for hospitals within the system, including St Vincent 86th Street, Womens’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Winchester.
Amy graduated with her nursing degree from Indiana University in 2003, giving her over a decade of experience in her field. Furthering her education she graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from Indiana University. She holds additional certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, and is Telemetry Certified. Telemetry nursing is a specialization within nursing. These nurses use high-tech equipment to measure life signs, dispense medication, and communicate with patients. Most work in hospitals or similar clinical settings with acute disorders such as heart failure, diabetes, or neurological problems.
To stay up to date in her field, Amy remains a professional member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing and the Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society.
Each winter, Amy volunteers and participates in the Blanket drive for the Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis, Indiana.
