Angela graduated as a Nursing Degree and with an Associate is Applied Science from the Queensborough Community College in 1991, giving her over two decades of experience in her field. Wanting to further her education she then graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Hunter- Bellevue School of Nursing in 1999. She is certified as a registered Nurse. Additionally she holds Med/Surg Certification, ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Certificate, Basic Life Support certification, and advanced cardiovascular life support certification.
To stay up to date in her field Angela remains a professional member of the Oncology Nursing Society. She currently practices as a registered nurse within the Ambulatory Infusion Therapy Unit with Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she holds an expertise in Medical Surgical Oncology, Respiratory Care, and Surgery. She chose to pursue nursing as a she needed a career that was challenging, interesting, meaningful and had many opportunities and rewards. She attributes her professional success to determination, hardwork and accepting challenges. When she is not working, she enjoys reading.
The main role of a registered nurse is to assist physicians in providing treatment to patients suffering from various medical conditions. While their primary responsibilities will involve caring for patients, their specific job duties will vary depending on your employer and specialization. While a majority of registered nurses work at hospitals they are not limited to that setting, they can also work in in clinics, schools, assisted living facilities, homes, schools and more. They must also stay up-to-date with new tools and technology to help provide the best care to patients and families, and the best support to doctors and other healthcare professionals.
