Oksana graduated with her Nursing Diploma and became licensed as a Registered Nurse from the University of Alberta in 1987, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. Wanting to further her education she later returned to the University of Alberta and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1993. She held additional certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Registered Nurse Certified (RNC) and continues to hold Basic Life Support and CPR certification. Wanting to stay up to date in her field, Oksana remains a professional member of the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Oksana currently practices as a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services where she holds an expertise in telephone triage nursing.Her past experiences included high risk labor and delivery, antepartum,recovery room,med/surgical unit, plastic/burn unit, orthopedics, dental recovery, psychiatry, charge nurse, and teaching. Her many years of nursing gave her an opportunity to work in different cities, which included Edmonton Canada, Calgary Canada, Vancouver Canada, San Antonio Texas, Dallas Texas and Houston Texas.

The main role of a registered nurse is to assist physicians in providing treatment to patients suffering from various medical conditions. While their primary responsibilities will involve caring for patients, their specific job duties will vary depending on your employer and specialization. While a majority of registered nurses work at hospitals they are not limited to that setting, they can also work in in clinics, schools, assisted living facilities, homes, schools and more. They must also stay up-to-date with new tools and technology to help provide the best care to patients and families, and the best support to doctors and other healthcare professionals. Registered nurses must possess excellent communication, emotional intelligence, teamwork, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
