Dr. Andrew Sloan, a distinguished neurosurgeon, physician-scientist, and pioneer in brain tumor immunotherapy, has dedicated over three decades to advancing the field of neurosurgery. Despite performing up to 330 brain surgeries a year, he remains at the forefront of surgical and non-surgical treatments in neurosurgery. His expertise spans a wide range of specialties, including benign brain tumors, gliomas, immunotherapy, laser interstitial thermotherapy (LITT), malignant brain tumors, and spinal oncology. He completed his residency in neurosurgery and a research fellowship at the UCLA School of Medicine before undertaking a fellowship in Neurosurgical Oncology & skull-base neurosurgery at the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As a member of numerous esteemed organizations in the medical field, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group, he has actively contributed to shaping the future of neurosurgery. His extensive involvement in editorial boards and scientific journals reflects his dedication to sharing knowledge and advancing research in the field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sloan has been actively involved in various local and national committees, contributing his expertise to advance neurosurgical techniques and improve patient outcomes. He has led educational courses for practicing neurosurgeons at prestigious national conferences such as AANS and CNS and served on important committees like the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee.
