Dr. Pankaj Gupta, MD, MBA, a distinguished figure in the healthcare industry, is making waves with his multifaceted roles as a visionary leader and innovator. With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades, Dr. Gupta has established himself as a trailblazer in managed care, focusing on patient-centric solutions and advancing health equity.
As the Founder and CEO of EMDEE, member of the Medical Advisory Board at Alzheimer’s Treatment Centers of America, and National Medicare Advantage Medical Director of Clinical Innovation at Optum, Dr. Gupta spearheads initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery and outcomes. His dedication to putting patients first led him to found EQUITAAS, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing health equity. Dr. Gupta began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Colgate University in 1988. He was an international banker with Citibank, then completed a Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program at Columbia University in 1992, followed by earning his Medical Degree from Saint George’s University School of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Gupta further specialized with a fellowship in geriatrics at Harvard Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1997. He advanced his expertise in general management by obtaining an Executive MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Business in 2004.
Driven by a passion for leveraging technology to bridge healthcare disparities, Dr. Gupta intends to create a suite of mobile apps under EQUITAAS that harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address gaps in health equity. Each app will align with EQUITAAS’ overarching goal of enhancing access to care and promoting equitable health outcomes for all individuals.
Additionally, through his work with EMDEE, Dr. Gupta employs Machine Learning (ML) and AI to help patients assess their risk of developing behavioral conditions and dementia.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Gupta attributes his success to the support of mentors, friends, and family. His passion for nature photography, scuba diving in the Caribbean, and Dee Jaying underscores his well-rounded approach to life.
