Respected General Surgeon, Katie S. Artz, MD, FACS is to be Recognized as a 2018 Top Doctor in Arizona
Katie S. Artz, MD, FACS, General Surgeon at Arizona Community Surgeons Southwestern Surgery Associates and mentor for the family practice residents with the University of Arizona, has been named a 2017 Top Doctor in Tucson, Arizona. Top Doctor Awards is dedicated to selecting and honoring those healthcare practitioners who have demonstrated clinical excellence while delivering the highest standards of patient care.
Prior to pursuing medicine, Dr. Artz completed her Master of Science Degree at Arizona State University. Her acclaimed medical career began in 2000, when she graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. She then completed an internship at the Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, which was followed by a residency at the Texas A&M Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Artz undertakes a wide range of surgical procedures to treat a number of conditions and traumas. She is particularly noted for her expertise in hernia, recurrent hernias, large hernias, breast surgery, and minimally invasive surgeries. She has earned the coveted title of Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and also serves as Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Arizona, where she teaches University of Arizona and other medical students, and trains physician assistant students. Dr. Artz dedicates her time to volunteer work. She mentors high school and college students, volunteers at elementary schools to talk about careers, college, and being a doctor, and volunteers at St. Elizabeth’s free clinic once a month.
Dr. Artz frequently travels abroad for medical missions to Bolivia, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic, and lets her patients know that she loves surgery and feels very honored that they trust her to take care of them. She is very honored to be apart of her patients’ lives and share in their medical care, and has dedicated her life to providing the highest standard of quality care. Her dedication and commitment to her patients makes Dr. Katie S. Artz, MD, FACS a very worthy winner of a 2018 Top Doctor Award.
