Dr. Katharine Waldmann is a dynamic, accomplished and admired internist who is currently retired and living in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Dr. Waldmann initially earned a BA at Oberlin College and Conservatory. She then changed the course on her career path and earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine.

Since 1843, Case Western Reserve University has been at the forefront of medical education and dedicated to enhancing human health, and has been a leader and innovator in healthcare education and biomedical research. The School of Medicine is one of the top-25 medical schools in the country and both the #1 medical school and largest biomedical research institution in Ohio.

Dr. Waldmann completed her internship at the University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as internal medicine residency with Massachusetts General Hospital. She is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Waldmann’s most recently served patients in private practice—Waldmann & Waldmann in Silver Spring, MD. Her career included such prestigious positions as Chief Physician and Disease Control Physician for the Montgomery County Health Department from 1985 until 2002. Her previous role was with the Montgomery County Health Department as its School Health Physician from 1961 to 1988. She has been an Instructor of Internal Medicine at Georgetown University as well as an Instructor in Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

She is a member of several professional societies and associations, including the American Academy of HIV Medicine, the Greater Washington Infectious Disease Society, and the Silver Spring Garden Club. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr Waldmann has also been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades including selection into ‘Who’s Who in America’, ‘Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare’, ‘Who’s Who in the East’ and ‘Who’s Who of American Women.’ She has also been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website.  

As a physician with over sixty years of experience, Dr. Waldmann specialized in Internal Medicine— the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. She is highly skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. She cared for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and played a significant role in teaching and research.
