After earning his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Boston University in 1973, Dr. Brent went on to obtain his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1978. His expertise is quite diverse, whether the problem is related to stress reduction, couple or marital problems, LGBT issues, self-esteem problems or more severe problems such as alcohol and drug abuse, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder, he gives the same care and attention to every individual he works with.

A member of the New York County Medical Society and the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology, the doctor is board-certified in both psychiatry and psychoanalysis by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. He has also published several articles relating to his field.
