Riverside Surgical Associates is a multispecialty surgery practice whose goal is to provide excellent specialty care to our patients using state-of-the-art surgical techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Wassim Mazraany, MD, FACS, FNAAMA
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Mazraany is the President and CEO of Riverside Surgical Associates, and serves as Chief of Surgery at Lowell General Hospital. He has been practicing in the Greater Lowell area since 2008.
A native of Lebanon, he received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the prestigious American University of Beirut, where he was on the Dean’s honor list. After relocating to the United States. he completed residencies in general surgery at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania, and at Loma Linda University in California.
As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Achieving fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow of the National Arab American Medical Association (FNAAMA). He serves on the clinical faculty at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Mazraany has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2013, 2012, 2009, 2008), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2013).
When he is not with patients, he spends his free time volunteering for many community charities, including coaching his children’s sports teams, staying active through sports, and enjoying time with his wife and their three children. Dr. Michael Jiser, MD, FACS, FASMBS
Dr. Jiser has been practicing surgery for over 20 years, mostly in the Greater Lowell area. He is well known for always being at the cutting edge in minimally invasive surgical techniques, often training surgeons in the region in the latest laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures. He has transformed the lives of hundreds of patients, more than any other doctor in the Merrimack Valley, through weight loss surgery, including gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.
Educated in the United States, he received his medical degree from the New York Medical College, and completed his residency in general surgery at New York Medical College/Soundshore Medical Center.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Maintaining fellowship status, Dr. Jiser is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).
On a professional level, he is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, the New England Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the Boston Surgical Society.
In his spare time, Dr. Jiser enjoys playing golf, the outdoors, and spending time with his children.
Dr. Daniela Treitl, MD
An excellent general surgeon, Dr. Treitl is on staff at Riverside Surgical Associates. Her areas of clinical interest include breast and thyroid surgery, parathyroid disease, and adrenal disease.
Academically, she earned her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. She went on to complete her residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and completed her fellowship in endocrine surgery at the University of California in San Francisco, one of the top endocrine fellowships in the nation.
As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Treitl is an active member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, the American Thyroid Association, and the American College of Surgeons. She has many publications in peer-reviewed journals and has collaborated with researchers around the world.
Among her other roles, she is the Vice President of Clinical Development and Assistant Medical Director at Apricity Health. Using her clinical experience, particularly in the area of oncology, she is responsible for the accuracy and validity of the clinical content and in the development of the knowledge models. She is also an expert in ApricityRosetta, and has successfully developed and implemented a COVID-19 knowledge model into the Apricity@Work solution.
In her free time, Dr. Treitl enjoys photography, hiking, travel, and spending time with her family. Speaking several languages, she is fluent in English and Romanian, and proficient in Spanish and Hungarian.
Dr. Suman Koganti, MD
An experienced general surgeon, Dr. Koganti has a strong passion for treating diseases of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts. His expertise in minimally invasive techniques (both robotic and laparoscopic surgery) is geared towards providing high quality care to his patients.
A native of India, he graduated with his medical degree from the Kakatiya Medical College. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in general surgery at the Bronx-Care Health System of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He then went on to complete a fellowship in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) and liver transplant at Beth Israel Lahey Health.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Koganti is an active member of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and both the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, and the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, and has served as a Reviewer for high impact journals like Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Cell Transplantation and several others.
On a more personal note, Dr. Koganti enjoys spending time with his family, swimming, traveling, listening to music and playing tennis. In addition to English, he is fluent in Telugu and Hindi.
