Furthering his education, he completed his Master of Science in Nursing degree at Xavier University.

With nearly two decades of experience, he also acts as an Agency and Community Counselor, which means that he can provide clinical mental health counseling in community and agency settings. Earlier in his occupational history, he acted as CPI Instructor, which involves possessing a non-violent crisis intervention instructor certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute. 

Working hard to get to where he is today, Robert feels that he has successfully managed his career in this incredibly challenging field due to the fact that he started his medical career in pre-med and then changed to nursing. It led him to discover that nursing was his real passion and therefore the path he was going to walk on every step throughout his professional journey. 

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains an active member of the American Nurses Association and the American Psychological Association.

In the United States, a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds board certification and is trained to provide a wide range of mental health services to patients and families in a variety of settings. PMHNPs diagnose, conduct therapy, and prescribe medications for patients who have psychiatric disorders, medical organic brain disorders or substance abuse problems. They are licensed to provide emergency psychiatric services, psychosocial and physical assessment of their patients, treatment plans, and manage patient care. They may also serve as consultants or as educators for families and staff. 

Addictions nursing is the nursing specialty for nurses committed to the prevention, intervention, treatment, and management of addictive disorders. A nurse who obtains certification as a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse – Advanced Practice (CARN-AP) has demonstrated expertise in knowledge, skill, and practice in the field of addictions nursing.
