Before he became a cardiologist in Tyler, Dr. Carney began his career as a physician in Missouri, where he was on the leading edge of heart care. “Before I came to Tyler, they were doing 20 cardiac interventions per year, I was doing five a week” he recalled. Following the completion of his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Missouri – Kansas City, Dr. Carney went on to attend medical school at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Upon graduation with his medical degree, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in cardiology at the University of Missouri.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, he is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
