Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Robert Pollack, who serves patients in Fort Myers, Florida. 

Dr. Pollack is a Florida-licensed, board-certified psychiatrist who has been in practice since 1977. He is the CEO of Psychiatric Associates of Southwest Florida (PASWFL) in Fort Myers, Florida. PASWFL was founded on the principle of providing the highest caliber of care for patients in an atmosphere of compassion, professionalism, and humanity. Its current practice is exemplary of contemporary medicine.

Among his various professional experiences, he serves as an Assistant Professor in the LMHS Family Medicine Residency Program at the Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee. 

Having served the public in many capacities, Dr. Pollack’s special interest focuses on the use of genomics testing to aid in the determination of the most effective manner in which to utilize psychotropic medications, as well as the use of rTMS, IV ketamine, TBS, intranasal esketamine, and QEEG for the management of treatment-resistant depression and other psychiatric illnesses.

After graduating from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, he went on to earn his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, New York. Thereafter, he completed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine, where he also served as Chief Resident and a member of the faculty.

Dr. Pollack is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) – a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. He is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Florida Psychiatric Society. In 2015, he was granted Life Fellow (LFAPA) status by the American Psychiatric Association Board of Trustees.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behaviour, cognition, and perceptions. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (an M.D. or D.O.) who specializes in mental health, including substance use disorders.
