A highly trained pathologist, Dr. Ruffolo is the President of Ruffolo, Hooper & Associates, MD, PA. He works with patients mainly out of Tampa General Hospital and Lower Keys Medical Center in Florida.
Ruffolo, Hooper & Associates, MD, PA is a dynamic, physician-owned medical practice providing comprehensive anatomic and clinical pathology services throughout the state of Florida and extending into the U.S. Virgin Islands. Consisting of board-certified pathologists with a vast subspecialty expertise, the group serves as laboratory medical directors and staff pathologists at hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, independent laboratories, and other patient care centers.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Dr. Ruffolo attended the Academy of Holy Names, a Jesuit high school, and continued his undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida. After receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in 1988, he went on to complete his residency in anatomic & clinical pathology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. He then proceeded to complete his fellowship in surgical pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and his lung fellowship at Mayo Clinic Scottsdale in Arizona.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in anatomic and clinical pathology through the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME). The NBOME is a United States examination board which sets state recognized examinations for osteopathic medical students and began administering exams in February 1935.
Giving back to the local community by fulfilling an academic role and training future medical professionals, Dr. Ruffolo serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida.
