Having been practicing for nearly five decades in Fort Worth, Dr. Blair spent two years at Carswell AFB and one year as the Director of Neurology at John Peter Smith Hospital. He was one of the founders of the first hospital pain management program in Fort Worth & the Founder of the Fort Worth Back Institute. He was also the Medical Director of the Stroke Program at THR Harris Hospital Fort Worth for more than 8 years where he helped Harris obtain the first Stroke Certification in Fort Worth and a subsequent renewal of that certification.

Since 2017, he has been a Faculty Associate in the Department of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics at UT Southwestern Medical School. He has also been mentoring medical students from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine since he gave the first lectures in neurology there in 1973. He also mentors medical students from UTSouthwestern Medical School.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Blair graduated with his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1969. He then went on to perform his internship in internal medicine at St. Francis Medical Center in 1970, followed by his residency in neurology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1971. Four years later, in 1975, he completed an additional residency in neurology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Following his education, the doctor attained board certification in neurology and neurophysiology through the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (ABPN). He was later certified by the ABPN in Clinical Neurophysiology. The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology. 

Named a TOP Doctor in the United States by U.S. News and World Report, Castle Connolly, and 360 West, Dr. Blair was also certified by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Among his professional affiliations, he is an active member of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis, the Texas Neurological Society, the Tarrant County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Academy of Neurology.
