He completed his internship at the same educational venue in 1995, followed by his residency in anesthesiology at Allegheny General Hospital in 1996. Then, in 1999, he conducted a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A local, statewide, and national lobbyist for patient and provider rights, Dr. Khetan is an active member of several professional organizations. These include the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Texas Club of Internists, the Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Texas Medical Association.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.

Throughout his line of work, Dr. Khetan has been the recipient of several awards and honors, including On-Time Doctor Award (2014), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2014, 2013), and Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2013). 

Outside his professional commitments, he enjoys spending time with his twin brother and his family who live next door. He also dedicates his spare time to strength training, riding his bike on warm days, and traveling for quick weekend trips.
