A highly respected otolaryngologist, Dr. Morton works with patients at the East Texas Sinus and Dizziness Center in Longview, Texas.
Known initially by many as the “dizzy doctor”, and now the “sinus doctor”, Dr. Morton has the most complete state-of-the-art facilities in the area for the evaluation and treatment of all forms of sinusitis and dizziness. His commitment to providing the highest quality care to his patients is evident in his work, and he remains passionate about the future of his profession.
Born in South Texas and raised as the youngest of four children, Dr. Morton was raised in a family that placed a high value on service and devotion, which led him to pursue a career in medicine. After completing his medical school training at UTMB in Galveston in 1985, where he was honored as “Who’s Who in Medical Professionals” and on the National Dean’s list for academic excellence, he completed his general surgical internship in 1986 and his residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery in 1990. At UTMB-Galveston, he trained under Byron J. Bailey, MD, FACS, one of the most respected specialists in the country.
In 1990, Dr. Morton began practicing in Paris, Texas until he moved to Longview in 1997. While caring for all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat, his practice is most clearly recognized for its excellence in the care of sinus and inner ear disorders. It has also been recognized as a National Center of Excellence for the treatment of sinusitis and the performance of Balloon Sinus Dilation, the only such center in East Texas. He was informed of this honor just before attending the National Open Forum in New York City in July 2014, and has maintained that designation ever since.
Dr. Morton and his staff not only perform this procedure regularly in their offices but have been asked to consult with outside physicians to assist in their learning the latest techniques in the treatment of sinusitis. He has carried out live broadcast satellite TV cases to educate other doctors throughout the country. They also train doctors from around the country who come to his office to be trained in these latest techniques, which is one of Dr. Morton’s most fulfilling aspects of his practice.
With a solid background, Dr. Morton is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, a member of the Texas Medical Association, and a member of the Gregg/Upshur County Medical Society.
In addition, he belongs to the Texas Association of Otolaryngology, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2004-2012 and was President from 2006-2007.
Staying at the forefront of technology and advancements in his field, Dr. Morton serves as a consultant for Stryker ENT, formerly Entellus Medical, a leading sinus surgical company.
Among his various accolades, Dr. Morton has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2015), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2017), and Top Doctor (2022). He has also lectured the area emergency physicians on the emergent evaluation of the dizzy patient and stands on call to assist them each day with the treatment of these patients. He has also served as guest lecturer for pre-med and therapy/allied health students at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas.
Aside from his professional achievements, Dr. Morton is a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for nearly four decades and have raised nine children of their own, and love the role of grandparents to four grandchildren with a fifth expected in July, 2023. They are proud to call Longview their home.
