Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Ronald I. Jones, who serves patients in Chandler, Arizona.

As a board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Jones seeks to bring accessible, expert care to each of his patients. In addition to his affiliation with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, he sees patients at his private practice – Ronald I. Jones M.D., P.C. Pediatrics – in Chandler, Arizona.

There, his mission is to provide quality health care for children in a welcoming environment that is built on knowledge, integrity, compassion, and fun. He and his staff strive to create a nurturing environment for the entire family where they partner with each patient to care for one of the greatest gifts: children.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Jones received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1975, majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. He attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine,  graduating with his medical degree in 1979. He then began his pediatric specialty training in Phoenix at the Phoenix Hospitals Affiliated Pediatric Program, which consisted of Good Samaritan Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Phoenix Indian Medical Center, and Maricopa Medical Center. He completed his training in 1982.

Thereafter, Dr. Jones served in the U.S. Public Health Service for 2 years in a medically underserved area of Louisville and then practiced privately for 3 years in Louisville. He returned to the Phoenix area in 1987 and practiced at Thomas-Davis Medical Center (a multi-specialty group) until 1997. He then took a two-year sabbatical to work in homeless shelters, providing care for the children there. He returned to private practice in 1999 under the employment of ABC Pediatrics before opening his own practice in 2003, where he currently remains.

The doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), which is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties. Founded in 1933, the ABP is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. Certification by the ABP has one objective, to promote excellence in medical care for children and adolescents.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. As a pediatrician, Dr. Jones provides medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. He is trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Outside of medicine Dr. Jones is committed to family and church activities. His love for children and the work he does is reflected in his favorite Bible verse, Psalms 127:3, which reads “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.”
