In practice since 1976, Dr. Cohen is a highly trained urologist serving as the Medical Director of Urology Consultants of South Palm in Delray Beach, Florida.
Previously, he held positions as President of the Greater Miami Urological Society and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at University Hospital & Medical Center. He was also a Clinical Instructor in Urology at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami Medical Center.
Born in New York City in 1942, Dr. Cohen received his Bachelor of Science degree from the City College of New York in 1963 and his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School in 1967. He then went on to complete his medical internship at the Albert Einstein Affiliated Hospital in New York City and his surgical residency at the Bronx VA Hospital.
Furthering his training, he completed his urological residency at Strong Memorial Hospital and at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He then served three years in the United States Air Force.
Specializing in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system, he is board-certified in urology and by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Cohen is an active member of the Palm Beach County Medical Society, the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association, and the Broward County Medical Association. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Listed in “South Florida Magazine” as One of the Top Urologists, Dr. Cohen has been a principal investigator in many clinical research projects in the following areas: benign prostatic hyperplastic, overactive bladder, frequency and urinary incontinence, premature ejaculation, chronic nonbacterial prostatitis, chronic urinary tract infections, and advanced prostate cancer. He has also been published in several medical journals.
Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.
Among his philanthropic endeavours, Dr. Cohen has been serving as a Volunteer at Caridad Migrant Clinic for more than three decades. He is also a consultant for the Interstitial Cystitis Association.
On a more personal note, he is married. He has two married children and three grandchildren. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
