Education: Dr. Lakhani graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery in 1993 from Aga Khan University in Pakistan. After receiving her Medical Degree she relocated to the United States. She then attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where she completed her Residency in Psychiatry and Masters of Public Health in 1999. She is a Diplomate of American Boards of Psychiatry and Neurology. To stay up to date in her profession she remains a professional member with the American Psychiatric Association, Clinical TMS society, and Stress Institute.

Experience: She has worked in hospitals, Community Mental Health, Outpatient Clinics, and Drug Treatment Programs. She has experience treating patients with resistant depression with medications and TMS- Transcranial magnetic stimulation as well as stress and addiction treatment provider.

Current Positions: Dr. Lakhani currently serves as a medication and TMS treatment to patients with severe depression at Shifa health both locally and internationally through telehealth program. She runs a Stress to Joy clinic with individual coaching, art meditation workshops, and group therapy. She is a transformational speaker and has authored a number one best selling book, ‘Stress to Joy; Your Toolkit to Restore Peace of Mind in Minutes”. She is also Medical Director at Residence XII, a women drug treatment program and a clinical professor at the University of Washington. 

Psychiatry: Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Preventive psychiatry focuses on the prevention of these conditions through early intervention in form of psychoeducation and mind training.
