Dr. Shah was accepted into medical school straight from high school through the Union College/Albany Medical College combined degree medical program, based on her stellar academic and research performance. She completed her undergraduate degree from Union College with her dual Bachelors of Science in Biology and Latin American & Caribbean Studies in 2006. Furthering her education, she graduated with her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Administration from Union University in 2010. She then graduated top of her class from Albany Medical College with her Medical Degree in 2010, where she was the founder and president of Unite for Sight Ophthalmological her substantial experience in her field. After obtaining her medical degree, she completed her internship at New York Presbyterian-Queens. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious New York University. Subsequently, she completed her Vitreoretinal Surgery & Uveitis Fellowship at Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Shah has published numerous scientific and clinical papers in the field of retina including her research on anti-VEGF medications including Avastin, Lucentis and Eylea, as well as procedures that are currently used by retina specialists such as retinal detachment repair and macular pucker surgery. She has received research scholarships and awards, and has given lectures at the national level to hundreds of physicians across the country.

To stay up to date in her field, she remains a professional member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Shah is fluent in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Urdu, allowing her to treat patients of multiple backgrounds.

When not working, she enjoys fencing, swimming, running, and spending time with her husband and children.
