Dr. Sabeen Dhand, a distinguished interventional radiologist at PIH Health Whittier Hospital, is making significant strides in the medical field with his innovative and patient-centered approach to care. His commitment to excellence and passion for cutting-edge technology have set him apart as a leader in the field of interventional radiology.

Driven by a childhood fascination with the transformative power of medical treatment, he chose to specialize in interventional radiology to merge his love for technology with his desire to improve patient outcomes. His dedication to staying at the forefront of medical advancements has led him to excel in areas such as limb salvage, peripheral vascular disease, interventional oncology, stroke therapies, complex venous interventions, informatics, and education through social media.

“I have always wanted to be a part of the forefront of technology, and interventional radiology is a cutting-edge discipline when it comes to minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. I chose interventional radiology because it was the perfect mix of my two passions: technology and medicine,” shared Dr. Dhand.

Academically, his educational journey began at Northwestern University, where he completed his undergraduate and medical/graduate studies. He was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society for his outstanding academic achievements. Following his medical education, he completed an internship at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago, followed by a residency and chief residency at Northwestern University. Finally, he pursued a fellowship in interventional radiology at Northwestern University, where he honed his skills and expertise in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

As an active researcher with professional interests in interventional radiology and informatics, Dr. Dhand is dedicated to advancing the field through cutting-edge research and innovation. His commitment to excellence is evident in his collaborative approach to patient care, working alongside a cohesive team to deliver the highest standards of treatment. He values the strong relationships he has built with his colleagues, whom he considers great friends and mentors.

Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends, exploring new culinary experiences as a self-proclaimed “pseudo-foodie,” and indulging in his love for movies and shows. An avid skier, he also appreciates the thrill of hitting the slopes with loved ones and remains dedicated to lifelong learning and personal growth.
