Dr. Azouz is a highly trained interventional cardiologist at AGH Wexford Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In collaboration with Allegheny Health Network, Dr. Azouz is affiliated with Allegheny General Hospital, Grove City Medical Center, and Wexford Health + Wellness Pavilion.

Prior to joining Allegheny Health Network, he was medical director of Butler Cardiovascular Consultants and co-founder of the structural heart program and heart valve clinic at Butler Health System in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was also an attending physician at Allegheny General Hospital and was instrumental in developing the Butler cardiovascular program.

Educated in Syria, Dr. Azouz graduated with his medical degree from the Aleppo University School of Medicine in 1991. After completing his residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, he gained additional skills and expertise during his cardiovascular fellowship at Lutheran General Hospital, University of Chicago, in Park Ridge, Illinois. He also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Mid-America Heart Institute, University of Missouri at Kansas City.

Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and Ohio, he is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Furthermore, he is board-certified in nuclear cardiology through the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and in endovascular medicine through the American Board of Vascular Medicine.

A Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Dr. Azouz is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.

Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that uses specialized catheter-based techniques to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease, vascular disease, structural heart disease, and congenital heart defects. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease as well as congenital (present at birth) and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.
