Well-versed in the field of psychiatry, Dr. Gomez-Luna is the Founder and President of The Center for Family and Recovery of Fairfield County, a private practice with offices in Darien, Connecticut and New York City, dedicated to restoring the mental wellness of children and their families. With over twenty-six years of experience as a psychiatrist, she specializes in psychiatric evaluations, therapeutic and psychopharmacological interventions to children, adolescents, and adults with psychiatric and co-occurring conditions.

Throughout her academic career, Dr. Gomez-Luna received her medical degree from The Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the Dominican Republic in 1989. She completed her residency in psychiatry at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Thereafter, she successfully completed her fellowship in child & adolescent psychiatry at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, followed by a fellowship in addiction medicine at Yale University School of Medicine.

An authority in her field, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

To boot, she is board-certified in addiction psychiatry and addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, which provides assurance to the American public that addiction medicine physicians have the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and treat addiction.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Gomez-Luna is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA), and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (DFASAM).

Among her professional affiliations, she is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the American Academy of Addiction.

With a passion for teaching, Dr. Gomez-Luna serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Yale School of Medicine, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Gomez-Luna has been the recipient of the 2013-2015 Research in Addiction Medicine Scholarship Program (RAMS) at Yale University, and the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry 2013-2014 Area I Regional Award.
