They accomplish this through listening and genuinely caring about each patient’s individual needs. They have performed thousands of needle guided pain procedures and helped thousands of patients find pain relief and avoid surgery.

Distinguished in the field of pain management, the doctors share a common belief that treating patients with pain should begin with listening to the patient, carefully examining the patient and test results, and then arriving at the correct diagnosis. This will allow them to formulate a treatment plan that ensures the best outcome and avoids surgery.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Modugu initially received his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at Henry Ford Hospital in 1992, and his residencies in general surgery & physical medicine and rehabilitation at Mount Sinai in 1993 and 1996, respectively.

Providing a comprehensive approach to care, he is double board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation & pain management through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

In an effort to provide more attentive and informative care to his patients, Dr. Modugu opened his own practice in Hartsdale in 2001. It reflects the type of care he strives to provide: accurate diagnosis, comprehensive services, and patient education.

Holding more than 20 years of experience helping his patients feel like themselves again, he specializes in treating a variety of spine-related disorders, sports injuries, arthritic disorders, nerve problems, and other pain disorders. He is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, White Plains Hospital, and Phelps Memorial Hospital Center.

From the start of his career, he has been passionate about educating his patients and believes they should be advocates in their treatment by making informed decisions.
