Dr. Van Steyn completed his undergraduate degree from Duke University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science. Furthering his education he completed his Medical Degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1990, giving him over two decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his Medical Degree he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency with the Ohio State University Hospitals, followed by a Sports Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship with the Hughston Clinic.
Dr. Van Steyn is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He currently practices with Orthopedic One and is affiliated with Riverside Methodist Hospital and the Ohio Orthopedic Surgery Institute. He currently serves as Chief, Department of Surgery and Co-Director of Ortho Trauma at Riverside Hospital. He holds an expertise in Sports Medicine, Knee Reconstructive Surgery, Knee Arthroscopy, Shoulder Surgery/Arthroscopy, and Surgical Repair of Fractures. Dr. Van Steyn serves as team physician for numerous sports teams including the Columbus Crew. He has covered numerous sports championships, both from the high school to professional level, in football, soccer, skiing, and track and field. He provided athletic care at the 1996 Olympic Games.
