Education: Dr. Bishai completed his undergraduate degree in 1995 from Michigan State University where he received his Bachelor’s in Physiology. He then stayed on and completed his Master in Epidemiology in 2000. Wanting to further his education he also received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from his alma mater in 2001, giving him nearly two decades of experience in his field.
Experience: After obtaining his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Dr. Bishai completed his training with an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital, followed by an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Plancher Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in New York, NY. He is dual certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Osteopathic Association. In addition, Dr. Bishai is Board Certified in Sports Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. To stay up to date in his field he remains a professional member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta organization, the Sigma Sigma Phi organization, American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Michigan Orthopaedic Society, Michigan Osteopathic Association, Michigan Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He sits on multiple committees for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. He is also a fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. He is the Past-President for the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics Sports Section and the Past-President of the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has given many lectures around the world and is viewed as an expert in Shoulder and Sports Medicine.
Current Position: Dr. Bishai currently practices with the Associated Orthopedists of Detroit. He is an Assistant Professor for the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as Oakland University William Beaumont Hospital School of Medicine. He is also a Professor for the Detroit Medical Center Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is affiliated with William Beaumont, McLaren Macomb and Henry Ford Hospitals. He is the former Medical Director of the McLaren Macomb Athletic Medicine Institute.
